about

Los Agentes Secretos / The Secret Agents.

The 80s was a time of construction to lay many of the foundations of electronic music in the world and of course, although with some setbacks, in Mexico. At that time in our country rock was undergoing the transition from censorship to acceptance, especially the one imposed in the commercial field through the hegemonic communication monopolies. During these years, and as a consequence of the push of the 70s, the formation of bands with a different profile other than rock began to take shape and saw an enormous opportunity in the technological advances of music, thus many groups included in their line-ups members who performed and they operated the synthesizer, while others based the sound of their compositions entirely on these instruments. In this way, over the years, synthesizers, drum machines, samplers and different sound processing devices gave way to the integration of various projects with more defined identities and a totally synthetic sound character. However, the number of musicians performing these trends was not very large and it was very common to see how some groups exchanged or shared members to form alternative projects.

Such is the case of Los Agentes Secretos, who formed in 1987 by Carlos Robledo (Decibel, Size, Casino Shangai, Cou Cou Bazar, OD), Roxana Flores (Interfase, Masos, OD) and Samir Menaceri (Cou Cou Bazar, Interfase, Masos, OD) composed an album that they never released and it was hidden but never forgotten. After some presentations the group became cult, in the listening experience of those who had the opportunity to witness their acts and above all by not leaving a sound record. It was formed after the disappearance of other important projects (Casino Shangai, Cou Cou Bazar) of that prolific decade, it also served to give way to musical ideas that were pending in those previous projects. This is how they used the beta of the early Techno Pop that began to appear in the world a few years before, they resorted to cutting-edge musical technological resources to create music in combination of a theme alluding to conspiracy, action, high security, information, intelligence , society and all the glamor that the fiction of the world of espionage represents, yes, all Mexican style.

After 32 years, and as one of the best kept secrets of the Mexican underground, the tape of the original recording came to light through one of its agents who had it under guard and protection, Samir Menaceri, decided to release it to share the adventure of that decade and the legacy it represents for the current music scene of our country and the world at a time when many of the sound borders between musical genres have been demolished and the phenomenon of sharing via digital tools has immediate effects and global.

This is how the Los Agentes Secretos album arrives on Compact Disc and digital format, which will be released from the first days of October 2020.
